Why subscribe?

My name’s TC Luoma. I’m an ex-microbiologist turned health journalist and essayist. I’m also what you call a biohacker – somebody who augments human physiology using supplements, food, drugs, exercise, and lifestyle. Hell, I might even be the original biohacker and to me, my body is just one big laboratory, albeit one where they occasionally use Petri dishes to do shots of Makers Mark.

My best guess is that I’ve written close to 3,000 articles on health, nutrition, longevity, sexuality, and looking good naked, along with several essays on what I regard as a new, more evolved masculinity (not that happy horseshit Jordan Peterson spews), but there’s a decent chance you haven’t heard of me.

That’s because my home for the last 25 years has been at a website largely dedicated to weightlifting and athletic performance. Even so, my articles were read by hundreds of thousands of meatheads, er, people – sometimes millions -- every week.

While my articles were often “one-off” from the site’s usual subject matter, I suspect the company gave me some leeway because my articles got read by people both within and outside our normal audience.

What I wrote wasn’t like the rest of the pabulum that’s offered in the fitness world. My articles were informative, irreverent, often contrary to popular health dogma, and I rarely failed to bring the funny. I was also able to offer readers actionable health strategies and tips – things few people know about – along with pointing out a lot of stuff that doctors don’t know about or just plain get wrong.

Although largely an autodidact in many fields, I’m an expert in nutrition, endocrinology (hormone replacement), weight loss, male and female sexuality (getting more out of doing the deed), plant chemicals, supplements, and general health, i.e., extending the human “health span.”

And, as mentioned, I’ve written extensively on the confusion around modern masculinity. (The most popular of these essays were compiled into two books, The Testosterone Principles I and II.)
